Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May like in Australia.
This Mother’s Day we are full on floral – creating a beautiful feminine environment for our customers to shop in store.
Flowers at Mother’s Day are a wonderful gift and are a sign of a caring nature, they represent something beautiful that can grow into a beautiful living, breathing thing from just a seed.
Here is our window display in our Millers Flagship store in Melbourne at the Fountain Gate shopping centre.
This beautiful display of silk flowers was lovingly hand made by Stage 1, they are renowned by Australia’s retail industry for their amazing visual merchandising which includes one-off 3D props, seasonal retail windows and so much more. As well as Millers they have also created visual displays for Myer, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Chanel and Mecca, so we feel extra special our Fountain Gate window is so spectacular.
Our other Millers stores got different versions of the below, a beautiful hand crafted floral display with stunning hand made flowers, which were created in card.
Perhaps the most traditional Mother’s Day flower is the carnation. Pink carnations represent gratitude and love while red carnations signify admiration. White carnations are traditional flowers to give or wear in remembrance of a mother who is no longer living.
There is also a religious legend which is associated with carnations, this association goes back to the passion of the Christ. Seeing Christ’s sufferings, his mother Mary shed tears, which fell on the ground. These tears are supposed to have turned into the fragrant and beautiful carnations.
We want to wish all our Millers women a Happy Mother’s Day – as even without children each and every one of you care and love for someone and that is the most beautiful gift you can give.
Love Betty x
