Richelle’s Hawaiian Holiday Style

I’ve been back in Australia for a week and I’m already thinking about planning my next trip!  As a busy working mother of 3 children, there is nothing quite like escaping the everyday routines with a beautiful stroll along Waikiki beach, glorious sun, warm water and freshly cut pineapples to eat!  Family is everything to me, of course, I missed my husband and children but this girls getaway to celebrate my 40th was a really special time for me.

What to pack
I am lucky that the kind folks at Millers equipped me with some vouchers after participating in the Summer campaign shoot. So, with only 24 hours to spare before flying out, I headed down to my local Millers for a last minute mad clothes dash and bought a few key pieces to take along with me.  My key items were a swimsuit (I love Millers swimsuits, great fit), basic singlet tops, 2 floppy hats (again, the Millers hats are a great price and the shape is perfect) a pair of belted palazzo pants and a belted hanky hem skirt.

Swimsuit & Palazzo Pants
I LOVED the navy crochet swimsuit (that yes, I modelled for all of Australia to see – eeek!) so that was the first item on my list. Navy is such a staple colour that looks great with my blonde hair.  I knew that I would be able to easily co-ordinate this swimsuit with outerwear like the belted Palazzo pants for a stylish but still comfortable look for cocktails by the pool. These pants came with a belt which I really like so I didn’t have to think about accessorising  – it’s done for me!

I also copied the swimsuit with the floppy red hat look that I wore the summer shoot. I felt chic in this swimsuit with the red hat and oversized sunnies. I thought I was able to pull off a glamorous look even without the assistance of the hair and makeup team we had on shoot!

Hanky Hem Skirt

I adore this fresh and flowy skirt! It’s perfect matched with a basic summer top, floppy hat and big sunnies. The classic hanky hem style and gorgeous bold floral print paired effortlessly with a white top and the built in belt was a favourite outfit for beach strolling. I could also pop into town for a spot of shopping and still look respectable!

My Fave Hawaiian Hotspots

What’s a girls getaway without a shopping spree??! It would be rude not to pop into the world’s largest outdoor shopping centre whilst in Hawaii. A visit to Ala Moana Shopping Center for a full day of shopping is a must, so many shops and brands at amazing prices. Lots of food options too, a must to keep the energy up to hit all of the shops!

Another must do is to experience a traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. The massage is very holistic and rhythmic, putting me in a state of bliss. After a hard day of hitting the shops, the muscles definitely needed some attention. There are lots of places to go for a massage, Serenity Spa at Outrigger Waikiki is quite well known though

A beachside table at Rumfire at the Sheraton is a must! For sunset drinks with the girls overlooking the ocean, amazing cocktails and dramatic fire pits, it’s a magical way to finish off the day.

Roy’s Waikiki is an eating institution. An amazing blend of Japanese, Hawaiian with European influences, it was a special treat to go out with the girls for a nice dinner. Not something we splurge on all the time so we all very much appreciated having an adult meal without interruptions!

I had a wonderful time and really feel that I have celebrated my 40th in style. I am proud that I put myself out there for the Millers shoot as well as doing something special for me with my girlfriends in Hawaii. Thanks for all of your support! Aloha!

Where would you love to get away to? How did you celebrate a special birthday?
