Creating a travel capsule wardrobe is one of the most difficult parts of going on holiday, even for a seasoned fashionista! A capsule wardrobe consists of items that you can mix and match, dress up or down and are versatile for a variety of occasions.
Follow our simple guidelines for creating the ultimate capsule travel wardrobe.
- Research your destination
The weather at your destination will determine what your travel capsule wardrobe will consist of, for warm climates think about taking cotton items, sleeveless tops and maxi dress. For cooler climates pack some cardigans and full length pants. Remember to think about if you will be doing any specific activities on holiday or if you have any formal nights out planned.
- Pack things that you know look fabulous
If you don’t like wearing it at home then you won’t want to wear it on holiday, there is nothing better than putting on your favourite pair of shorts or swimsuit and feeling comfortable and stylish.
- Stick to a colour scheme
Pick colours that you know look good on you! We think it is great to pack a few pairs of neutral bottoms so you can mix and match with colourful tops.
- Limit your accessories
Yes that means shoes too! Try and aim to pack only three pairs of shoes. A comfortable trainer, an everyday sandal and a heel/wedge option for night time. Try and choose neutral colours like black and tan that will go will any outfits. Again you should only need two bags on holiday, an everyday handbag and a smaller clutch bag for evenings. With accessories, lay out your capsule wardrobe beforehand and see what will go with all your outfits. Tip: a few pairs of statement earrings will make your outfits look completely different!
